"The sea does not exist for our entertainment." Raphaela le Gouvello TransAtlantic Windsurfer
Sure, windsurfing is adventurous, exciting, and fun.
There's nothing as energizing as planing along the surface of the sea, propelled by the wind.
Traveling along this dynamic interface between two elements, a windsurfer experiences the sea with a primal intensity. No one who windsurfs can fail to have respect for the ocean and all the marine life it holds. Nor can any of us stand by and ignore the desecration of our planet's greatest natural resource.
With this issue, we are calling on all windsurfers to join forces to combat pollution of the ocean and destruction of the marine ecosystem. One dollar from every subscription will be donated to the Center for Marine Conservation, a not for profit organization in Washington, D.C.
We would like to refer you to the website of the C.M.C. and ask that you participate in one of their postcard campaigns to promote legislation that will protect the coastline and our precious marine resources. In future issues, we will be reporting on windsurfers making a difference in
this conservation endeavor.
We believe windsurfing is the embodiment of man working in harmony with nature. Look for our celebration of the Sacred Wind: Native Soul® during our Equipment Review Sessions on Maui this fall.
