THE TRADES ARE BACK! THE TRADES ARE BACK!

After 17 straight days of wind, we had three days of no sailing here-first calm, then Kona winds from the south (some sailors went to the other side of the island to sail), then a nice soft tropical rain on Wednesday. But Thursday was a ripper. It was the windiest day so far, although it was gusty and shifted around a lot between the east and north, which kept people guessing about rigs. The waves were very excellent. Not too high, which made it easy to get out, and smooth and fast, coming in. There were probably more man-hours spent on the water than any day yet.

Nevin Sayre gave a Fiberspar clinic in the morning, boasting about the durability of the wave masts,
and wouldn't you know it: one of our testers went out and snapped one in a wave. Mark Archer did a forward loop, not too hard of a landing, and snapped the 7'11" Starboard Fish 90 like a twig. So it goes.
Giggling Hostesses: Erin McPherson, Marlies van Vianen, who flew all the way from Amsterdam, Holland for good times at Club Paradise with Mark Archer.
