Equipment Test2000 @ Maui Monday10/25/99 Return to Updates > Camera, Wind, Action! The PWA/Chili Video film crew from London, England arrived on Saturday and Sunday. Director Ashley Smith and cameraman Julius Brighton were both in Brazil before flying home to England for 24hrs. Clearly the world is their oyster as the globe trotting crew initiated the first day of filming without missing a beat. Julius was the cameraman for the Trans-Atlantic Windsurf Race 98 and today he bounced around on the back of Sierra Emory's Jet-ski filming testers in overpowering conditions. The new 2000 AHD boards finally arrived after a mysterious week long delay. The striking longshoremen that could threaten the economy of the island are thought to have contributed to the lag. At least the delivery coincided with the arrival of the film crew, and conviniently provided a photo-op. The fourth week of the five week test will be filled with chaotic activities amplified by the presence of the PWA film crew. This equipment test will lead up to the American Windsurfer Magazine Test 2000 Millennium party, which will rock the island on Saturday. Neil Pryde sail designer Nils Rosenblad and his Super Poodle band will set the tone, as luminaries from Senator John Kerry to newly crowned US Olympic representative Mike Gebhardt are slated to attend.
