A MILLENNIUM PARTY

As Woodstock ended in the mud, the Millennium party celebratory ended in the Club Paradise pool. It was inevitable. One should have known that windsurfers mix well with a pool. The first to be baptized was Irie Man, Brian Talma. The culprit who threw Talma admitted that it was a premeditated act. He knew Talma's smile would not fade with a splash. After that, it didn't take long to escalate the pool party. No one was sacred. By the end of the evening, everyone who lingered at the party got wet. Those with any sense of intelligence headed for the bushes and the darkness of the night. Those oblivious to self preservation, remained on standby and were dunked repeatedly. Retribution played big in this watery festivity.

One guy while falling into the pool, threw his cell phone across the pool in an attempt to keep it dry. A gal, who turned out to be his girlfriend, caught the instrument, thought for a second and then chucked it into the pool.

Considering that guest testers were staying in Club Paradise, the party was scheduled to end by 8pm. But the unplanned splash added another 3 hours to the marathon which began to hum as early as 3pm. Soggy sailors ambled off the premise as the clock raced to midnight. While Halloween was minutes away, the talk of town, in the days after the back to back outings, clearly favored the incredible party of the Millennium. Cars were parked along Stable road as far back as Hana Highway, a good mile away.

Already, plans for next year are under discussion. Bill Fleischer, the windsurfing owner of Club Paradise suggested a two party test session, one for the arrival and the other at the end.

If such lofty plans are realized, it would indeed be a 2001 Maui Odyssey.
