SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12: SOMEWHERE IN NEW FOUNDLAND: by John Chao

SPIRITS SOAR, THE GROUP MAKES THE FERRY. 29 hours after leaving the airport, the bus and the US TAWR team makes the ferry with 10 minutes to spare. The ferry departed at 12 AM and arrived in Port aux-Basques on Sat. shortly after 6 AM . A well rested group got back into the bus to begin a longer ride than expected to St. Johns - another ten hours ride - to the start of the race . To pass the time the group has watched four video movies through the entertainment system of the bus. Titles included "Four Rooms", "Terminator I and II" and "Sleepless in Seattle." "The Titanic" was offered but the consensus was to watch in on the mothership during the trip.
